Blasé Allen Wright, Jr.  (21)

Nov. 27, 1985 - Feb. 2, 2007

On February 2, 2007 Blasé Allen Wright, Jr. (BJ) was murdered in his home in Universal City, Texas. He was shot in the face and the bullet severed his spinal cord. It is believed that Blasé had been napping in his apartment when he heard a commotion in the living room. Blasé was murdered upon entering his living room. This crime appeared to be a botched robbery. The case is still unsolved.

Blasé graduated from high school in 2004. He played football all four years. There were two things you could always count on Blasé wearing when you saw him, a Texas Longhorns baseball cap and a smile. His high school football coach said even after the team had lost a game he would see Blasé with that smile on his face.

Blasé loved working on cars and had a collection of miscellaneous auto parts.  He enjoyed tubing on the river with his friends. He was quite a hard worker, also. At times, he worked two jobs. At his funeral his manager said he could always count on Blasé to come into work if they were short staffed and needed a hand.

The day before he was murdered, Blasé had gotten word that he had been hired for a job he had applied for. He was so excited and getting this job was going to be a turning point for him. He seemed to be talking more and more about his future and where he was headed. It wasn’t to be. The next afternoon Blasé was murdered.

Blasé left behind  his parents, Debora Hastings and Blasé A. Wright, Sr.; sisters, April Talley and husband Travis; Trista Hamilton and husband Ed, and Chelsea Wright; paternal grandparents, John and Mary Jo Wright, Jake and Linda Jacobs, maternal grandparents, William O. and Patricia L. Hastings;  4 nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Blasé is greatly missed and of course, will never be forgotten. The way in which he was taken from his family was absolutely senseless. We pray that one day the monster that committed this act will face justice. It will be a short lived victory for us though, because the pain will return all too quickly.
